Legacy C.H.E.S.T Foundation

The Legacy Community Hydro Electric Systems Transfers (C.H.E.S.T.) Fund provides financial support to non-profit, community-based organizations that provides projects, programs, services, or activities that enhance the quality of life in areas of health, arts, culture, leisure, heritage, education and the environment.

Funding is restricted to initiatives that directly benefit the local ratepayers of the former municipalities and relevant geographical area where the hydro reserves originated.

Currently, funding is available for initiatives for the former municipalities of Bobcaygeon and Lindsay.

The submission deadline to apply for funding for the upcoming year is on the last Friday of October annually. For example, October 31, 2025 is the deadline for 2026 applications.

Eligibility

Funding is considered for applicants who meet the applicant and project eligibility criteria, demonstrate the value of their project to the relevant community, and submit a complete application online for consideration.

Applicant and project eligibility is outlined in Council Policy CP2025-002. Please review these criteria to ensure eligibility prior to submitting an application.

Applications for funding for 2026 are now being accepted. The deadline for 2026 applications is Friday, October 31, 2025.

Applications MUST be submitted electronically, required fields must be completed, and the required information attached in order to complete your submission.
