Kawartha Lakes Public Library offers materials for all ages to learn about and celebrate the culture, history, and experiences of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. Our collection is always growing to reflect the interests of our community. Explore the resources below.

Library Pride Collection

  • Adults: Books, DVDs, and audiobooks that highlight 2SLGBTQIA+ voices.

  • Juvenile: Inclusive picture books and stories that celebrate diversity and identity.

Browse our Digital Library collection for a variety of eBooks and electronic audiobooks, streamable movies, music and television shows featuring diversity, love and inclusion.

Rainbow Story and Play

Third Saturday of each month
2:00pm–3:00pm | Lindsay Branch

A welcoming drop-in program for 2SLGBTQIA+ families with children ages 0–12 years.

Younger children (ages 0–6) can enjoy a fun, staff-led storytime, while older kids (ages 7–12) take part in games, crafts, and engaging activities.

No registration required, just drop in and join the fun!

Rainbow Book Club

Third Thursday of each month
6:00pm–7:30pm | Lindsay Branch

Join us for Rainbow Book Club. A welcoming space to explore stories that celebrate 2SLGBTQIA+ voices, characters, and themes. Each month features a new title, with lively discussions, guest speakers, and special activities.

Pride Challenge Card

Join us in celebrating Pride with our Pride Challenge Card! This fun activity invites you to complete a variety of prompts at your own pace. Each square offers an opportunity to learn, reflect, and celebrate the culture, history, and experiences of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.

Community Resources

Kawartha Lakes Pride (Facebook Page): A local community organization that endeavours to make all 2SLGBTQIA+ people and their allies feel welcome in our community.

Haliburton, Kawartha, Northumberland, Peterborough Health Unit: Local health unit offers inclusive, accessible and 2SLGBTQIA+ positive programs. Learn how the health unit can support your health and find information on other resources available in our area.

Gender Journeys: Offered by the Canadian Mental Health Association HKPR, this program provides support, education, and services for transgender, 2-spirit, gender-expansive, and questioning individuals, as well as their families and loved ones.

PFLAG Lindsay Facebook: A private Facebook group. This organization offers support, education, and resources on sexual orientation and gender identity for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, their families, and friends.
