    Kawartha Lakes – The City of Kawartha Lakes Emergency Operations Centre met this afternoon to assess ongoing storm recovery efforts. Please see below for the latest updates on services, openings and closures.

    A quote from our Mayor: "Hydro has told us this is the worst storm Ontario has seen since 1998, and the damage is unlike anything they’ve dealt with in years. Crews—along with contractors and support from 18 other utilities—are working around the clock to get power back to the 208,000 customers still without electricity. Since Friday night, they've already restored service to over 783,000 homes and businesses."

    Kawartha Lakes Burn Ban Remains in Effect Following Severe Ice Storm

    Kawartha Lakes – Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue Service is reminding residents that the annual burn ban remains in effect despite the significant damage caused by the recent ice storm.

    Over the weekend, our community faced severe impacts, including downed trees, widespread power outages, and hazardous conditions. Our emergency responders have been working around the clock to assist residents and respond to all types of urgent calls.

While we’re beginning to see parts of the municipality come back online with power, most of our rural areas are still without power.
